Sera Je Monastery has established the Sera Je Secondary School to raise a generation of capable monk scholars and teachers to independently teach, write and translate Buddhist teachings and scriptures in Tibetan as well as foreign languages, plus become Buddhist scholars and teachers of international standing. Currently, there are 650 monk students in the school receiving both traditional and modern education learning science, mathematics, Buddhism and several foreign languages, including English, Hindi and Chinese. Upon graduating from the school, they will continue on with higher philosophical studies in the Sera Je Monastic University.
Sera Je Secondary School is concerned about its long term sustainability due to acute lack of funding and has therefore launched this initiative to establish an endowment/corpus fund.
The Tibet Fund is helping the Sera Je Secondary School in its effort to become self-reliant and support them in their endeavor to provide traditional and modern education to younger generation of monks in accordance with the vision of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The Tibet Fund is making a contribution of $5,000 to the Sera Je Secondary School. We ask for your generosity by making a gift of any amount to support the good work of the School.
