Development Director

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: The Tibet Fund is currently recruiting a Development Director to help professionalize and lead the organization’s private fundraising efforts.

POSITION TITLE:  Development Director

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Work closely with senior management and a small team to professionalize and lead the organization’s outreach to private donors, in particular major donors and foundations. The Tibet Fund currently receives an average of approximately $1m in private giving annually.
  • Conduct prospects research, build and cultivate relationships with major donors and foundations.
  • Manage the major donors database and touchpoint calendar, prepare grant proposals, write acknowledgement letters for large gifts, and execute other components of the organization’s fundraising strategy
  • Support and advise the senior communications officer in aligning materials with the fundraising strategy, and in preparing reports for major donors
  • Support the president in planning fundraising events to maximize major donor engagement and giving, and participate in events for the same purpose
  • Prepare an annual private donor fundraising plan and annual update report for the board and senior management

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years prior experience and proven performance in private foundation and major donor fundraising, preferably in the New York area
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and work independently when needed
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and communication skills
  • Results-oriented self-starter with ability to learn quickly and take initiative

Communications Officer

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: The Tibet Fund is currently recruiting a Communications Officer to help professionalize the content and appeal of its fundraising and publicity materials and social media messaging.

POSITION TITLE: Communications Officer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Work closely with senior management and a small team to develop and execute an external communications plan that professionalizes the content and appeal of fundraising and publicity materials and tells our story more effectively
  • Redesign The Tibet Fund’s marketing products and social media platforms in a unified manner (website, Facebook, Instagram, annual report, newsletters, appeals), and then carry out regular updating, posting, and production of marketing products and social media messaging
  • Support the Development Director in major donor prospects research, relationship building and cultivation
  • Support the President with occasional English writing and editing tasks
  • Create grant agreements and write reports on grant activities
  • Manage the grant tracking tool (Excel)


COMPENSATION:

  • 5+ years prior experience and proven performance in producing nonprofit fundraising and publicity materials, marketing products and social media content, both visual and written
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and work independently when needed
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and communication skills
  • Results-oriented self-starter with ability to learn quickly and take initiative
  • Native English fluency and writing skills
  • Excel proficiency a plus but not required
