Born in Tibet and raised in exile, Tenzin Phuntsok (TenPhun) channeled the complexities of the diaspora into his 2015 debut poetry collection, Sweet Butter Tea. He followed this in 2020 with his first Tibetan-language novel, The Stone Flower, which explores identity, displacement, and the preservation of cultural heritage among Tibetan exiles in India.
Despite the financial uncertainties of displacement, TenPhun’s resilience has anchored his commitment to contemporary Tibetan literature through writing and translation. Tenphun is one of the awardees of The Tibet Fund Contemporary Artist Grant Fund to support his upcoming book, The Cloud Walker.
“I published my first Tibetan novel and participated in the Tibetan Artists Festival thanks to The Tibet Fund,” TenPhun shared. “Receiving their Contemporary Artist Grant this year for my upcoming book is an honor. Thank you so much for your trust and support.”
