This year 15 grants of up to $20,000 were awarded to support creative projects across ten contemporary art forms. The Tibet Fund received applications from over 50 contemporary Tibetan artists around the world including filmmakers, musicians, painters, writers, and multi-media artists.
Applications were reviewed by a panel of senior Tibetan artists and The Tibet Fund. International advisors of the Tibetan Arts Council were invited to review applications to provide perspectives and expertise in their respective fields.
“It is exciting to see such strong interest from so many contemporary Tibetan artists,” said Bob Ankerson, President of The Tibet Fund. “This underscores the need for resources to enable artists to dedicate their time and energy to meaningful creative work. New art, literature, film, and music are important vehicles of language, identity and cohesion for young Tibetans around the world, and will be increasingly critical for future generations.”
