AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT

We support Tibetan farming communities in India and Nepal to improve crop productivity, strengthen climate resilience, and increase household income. Working closely with local partners, we provide farmers with practical training, soil treatment guidance, and exposure to improved farming techniques that help them grow healthier crops and access better markets.
In India, farmers receive support through soil testing, demonstration farm visits, and training in modern farm management. In Nepal, households are equipped with seedlings, fertilizers, and tools to cultivate cash crops for local markets and vegetables for home consumption. In remote high-altitude settlements, we help farmers add value to their produce by providing drying sheds for apples and apricots and greenhouses to grow potato seeds.
We also collaborate with the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute to promote the cultivation of medicinal plants, linking farmers to growing markets for traditional Sorig and Ayurvedic ingredients. At the CTA Organic Research and Training Center in Bylakuppe, high-quality citrus saplings are grown for distribution to farmers, along with support in biofertilizers, drip irrigation, and marketing.

“Our community has successfully transitioned from monoculture farming to a diverse, resilient cropping system. By integrating cash crops, we have not only increased the greenery of our settlement but also established greater economic security for our families”.
