Gyudmed Monastic School was established in 1982 in Hunsur, south India. Hundreds of students have graduated with the Geshe Lharampa degree, which is the highest degree of scholarship conferred within the traditional Tibetan monastic system in the Gelug school. The curriculum also includes philosophy, ritual practices, the creation of sand and wooden mandalas, butter sculpting, computer studies, and proficiency in Tibetan, English, and Chinese languages. Currently, more than 400 monks study at the school.
