Bob has more than 25 years of nonprofit management and leadership experience and has been associated with the Tibetan cause since 1990. He has overseen a wide range of NGO projects for Tibetan communities in Tibet and South Asia supporting education, health, livelihoods development, culture preservation, environment conservation, community development, women empowerment, and humanitarian relief.
Prior to joining The Tibet Fund in 2012, Bob was Vice President of Tibet Poverty Alleviation Fund, where he led U.S. Government funded programs inside Tibet, and helped raise funds from governments and foundations including the Ford Foundation, the Netherlands government, and many others. Before that he served as Program Director for The Bridge Fund, where he managed multiple projects across Tibet, and worked for The Mountain Institute in Lhasa, where he helped establish a small enterprise program funded by the Ford Foundation. Bob also consulted for the World Bank in Indonesia and East Timor, and managed operations for a manufacturing and export business in Lhasa in the 1990s. He has a B.A. from Columbia University and a MPA in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School.
