Tibetan Girls Scholarship

The Tibet Fund’s Tibetan Girls Scholarship Program ensures girls from low-income families have the opportunity to attend college regardless of their financial background. Scholarships are awarded entirely on the basis of need and cover the full cost of tuition and living expenses, enabling girls to focus on their studies without the burden of financial challenges. Since 2018, 96 young Tibetan women have pursued bachelor’s degrees in India, Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan in fields including education, medicine, computer science, engineering, psychology, business administration, environmental science, and fine arts.

Tibetan Women Microentrepreneurship Project

The Tibet Fund’s Tibetan Women Microentrepreneurship Program empowers low-income Tibetan women, particularly single mothers, by helping them build sustainable livelihoods. This is achieved by assisting vulnerable women to develop simple business plans, source raw materials and equipment, create brands, obtain licenses, and use digital platforms to reach new customers. Women beneficiaries include nomad textile weavers, small restaurant owners, home producers of chili sauce and tsampa, and artisans selling thangka paintings, prayer flags, and traditional dresses. The program currently reaches women in three high altitude communities of Ladakh and Nepal as well as Kathmandu, Delhi, Dehradun, and Dharamsala.
