The Tibet Fund joins Tibetans around the world in mourning the passing of Pawo Lobsang Palden, widely known as Lobga Rangzen.
Lobga dedicated his life to the Tibetan cause. His final message, released one day after China’s Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress came into effect, expressed his deep concern over policies that seek to erase Tibetan identity, language, culture, and religion.
As we remember Lobga, we honor a life of commitment and service to the Tibetan cause. We also reflect on the message he left for all Tibetans. He called on us to remain united, to continue preserving and practicing Tibetan language and culture, and to strengthen our collective efforts for freedom in Tibet. His words remind us that the responsibility for Tibet’s future rests with all of us. The most meaningful way to honor his memory is to continue the work to which he dedicated his life
