Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education in Tibetan schools has been a priority of the CTA Department of Education since 2012. To improve the quality of science education we support science centers, exhibitions, learning hubs, and research internships. School science centers are equipped with inquiry-based learning aids, and science exhibitions are organized for students to put their classroom and lab knowledge into practice. Science teachers participate in learning hubs that increase peer learning and exposure to new science teaching practices, and summer research internships are organized at prestigious Indian universities, to encourage students to continue studying science in college.

To increase student access to information and communication technology, we support classroom technology corners and teacher training. Technology corners are equipped with internet connectivity and laptops, tablets, scanners, and video cameras, which students use for group projects and self-learning. Teachers receive training to use educational technology effectively in the classroom, and advanced students receive training in cyber security and coding. To date, more than 500 teachers have received training, and technology corners have been installed in all 24 Tibetan middle-high schools in India and Nepal.
