SUSTAINING TRADITIONAL CULTURE
Sustaining Tibetan culture is about preserving the collective memory, identity, and values of the Tibetan people. Rare cultural resources are digitized and preserved for public access, including archival documents, publications, oral histories, and traditional performances. We support research on centuries-old Tibetan epic literature and the completion of a new Tibetan opera performance manual that revitalizes traditional performing arts such as classical songs, dances, and opera.
Our support also extends to the creation of new costumes and instruments and the organization of cultural festivals, and arts grants for Tibetan artists, artisans, researchers, and cultural organizations. Traditional artists and artisans advance diverse initiatives such as online language tutorials, translations, children’s books, and studies in Sowa Rigpa.
